Forum for Dialogue of Cultures: OPEN CALL for playwrights

In cooperation with the Villa Decius Association, the Villa Decius Institute of Culture and the Juliusz Słowacki Theater in Krakow, we invite screenwriters and playwrights from Poland and Germany to apply for a one-month residency at Villa Decius in Krakow.

The residency will take place in October or November 2025.
This year, four participants will be accepted: two from Poland and two from Germany. Applications are open to authors of plays and radio plays as well as film and television scripts who can present at least one realized and published work (e.g. theater performance, radio play, film or series) based on their own text.

The residency includes:

  •  A one-month stay in the historic remise of the Renaissance castle Villa Decius in Krakow (single room with private bathroom)
  •  Financial support in the amount of PLN 4,000 gross
  •  Organizational support and assistance in establishing professional contacts

At the end of the project, excerpts from the texts created during the residency will be presented in the form of a mini-performance marathon on December 20, 2025 at the Juliusz Słowacki Theater in Krakow.

The application must include the following documents:

  • An excerpt from a realized screenplay or play (in Polish, German or English)
  • Optional: a letter of motivation or recommendation

Priority will be given to applications from authors who plan to work on texts that deal with Polish-German relations in a broader sense.

Application deadline: August 11, 2025
Interested persons are asked to fill out the online application form: Apply now!
Further information can be found here.

The residents will be announced by August 22, 2025.

The project is financed by the Foundation for Polish-German Cooperation and the International Visegrad Fund.
