What should a dance archive look like for dance artists who are confronted with far-reaching dance bans in their home country? In interviews conducted by dance scholar Elaheh Hatami, the relevance of documentation and memory processes for Iranian artists, both living in the country and in the diaspora, is discussed.
The weblog ‘Dance Archive in Exile’ sees itself as the beginning of an exploration of this topic. The project is committed to creating a platform that documents and preserves not only the art, but also the stories and experiences of the artists. The project is supported in the long term by the Media Library for Dance and Theatre at the International Theatre Institute.
