The ITI Academy Week will take place during the festival THEATER DER WELT from June 21 to 28, 2026 in Berlin and Chemnitz. THEATER DER WELT is one of the most important international theater festivals in Germany. It shows perspectives from different regions of the world, overcomes borders and connects people.
The ITI Academy is a platform for international encounters and artistic research. It sees itself as a laboratory for collective resilience and resistance in art and theater.
The fellows of the ITI Academy Week 2026 are at the beginning of their artistic careers. During the week, they will attend performances and events of THEATER DER WELT, work together with artists from the ITI Academy LABs and exchange perspectives on topics such as artistic freedom and censorship, practices of collective care, fair collaboration and decolonization. In addition, questions of community and relating to each other in collectives and across cultural borders will be reflected upon. The learning of different perspectives, aesthetics and working methods plays a central role.
The fellows become part of the alumni network of the ITI Academy, which aims to sustain and strengthen international connections. The worldwide network of the ITI forms the basis for this.
The participation in the entire programme is free of charge, but mandatory. Participation requires attendance and active participation in the entire program from 21 to 28 June 2026 as well as in the 3 online meetings in the run-up to the ITI Academy Week.
