Branchentreff Theater Übersetzen

The BRANCHENTREFF THEATER ÜBERSETZEN was initiated by the International Theatre Institute (ITI), within the framework of theateruebersetzen.de, and aims to question the diverse aspects of translation in the context of current theater practice and to support networking between translators, authors, theaters and publishers.

The event will be hel in german. Click here to register.

For the second edition and in cooperation with VTheA (Verband der Theaterautor:innen) and the Deutsches Theater Berlin, we want to take a closer look at current forms of production and writing processes in and at the theater. What forms of contemporary drama are being realized in theaters and production houses today? What influence do socio-political changes and regional characteristics have on literary drama, and how do authors and translators deal with the changing production conditions?

Moderated by Caroline Galvis and together with translators, authors, dramaturges and other theater professionals, we want to discuss these questions in various thematic rounds. We invite all participants as experts of their work to share with us their questions, reflections and suggestions in this context and to explore further impulses and initiatives.

In addition, six authors and translators will present their dramatic texts or their translations of foreign-language drama in short readings. The texts were selected from the submissions by the author Hannah Zufall and the translator Irina Bondas.

In the evening, there will be an opportunity to attend a joint performance of PRIMA FACIE by Suzie Miller (translated by Anne Rabe) at the Kammerspiele of the Deutsches Theater. Ticket requests can be indicated on the registration form.
