In cooperation with the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts Brno and the international theatre festival DIVADLO in Plzeň, the german Centre of ITI carries out a unique documentation project. Every year since 2002, German and Czech students, under the guidance of experienced experts, have recorded selected productions at the festival in a double workshop using video and photography

In the course of almost 20 years of documentation work, a video archive of more than 300 theatre recordings has been created, which can be viewed in the Media Library for Dance and Theatre at the ITI Germany. Talks and discussions are held on an ongoing basis to reflect on the experiences, contacts and work results associated with this project.

In order to expand and deepen this project, the long-term research project Passage 23°E. Theatre and Theatricality from the Baltic to the Aegean was established.

The project was funded by the German-Czech Future Fund.

In 2022, a colloquium "Audiovisual and photographic recordings of theatrical productions" was held by the International Theatre Festival Pilsen on the initiative and under the responsibility of the festival's photo and video workshop in cooperation with the IDU Prague, the ITI Germany and the Institute for Theatre Studies at the Free University of Berlin. The detailed documentation can be found in the Media Library for Dance and Theatre: https://archiv.mimecentrum.de/books/MCB-BK-12628
