Symposium of the International Theater Institute at the Theaterformen Festival in Braunschweig on 16th June

International influences are changing local theatre. For a long time, international artistic cooperations have become common in German theatres. And for several decades migrant artists have established themselves in Germany, nowadays as post-migrant generations. For two years, this development has received a strong impetus: Many artists have fled their home countries to Germany. They are all looking for opportunities to continue their artistic careers; they are looking for ways of producing. However, they are often confronted with funding and institutional structures that do not yet reflect this change.

The ITI symposium thus poses the question: How is the artistic landscape changing? What does the new diversity mean? Does it also change audience structures? And above all, what form do diversity and change take in theatre institutions?

In this public symposium, artists, theatre directors and public sponsors all have a voice. Five Round Tables offer the opportunity to delve deeper into the topics of the lectures and the panel discussion.
